Victorian Arts & Crafts Ebonised Antique Sideboard / Bookcase.
This striking antique sideboard / bookcase dates from around 1890 and is typical of the Arts & Crafts movement from the Victorian period. It has a mirrored back with turned uprights supporting a moulded shelf all of which sit above the rectangular moulded top of the sideboard. The main body of the antique bookcase has four fixed shelves finished with a black fabric trim. It has two cupboard doors with raised, beautifully carved, fielded panels and original ornate brass handles. The antique sideboard is an Arts & Crafts collectors piece, stands on turned feet, has a dark ebonised finish with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
