Rosewood Jewellery Box (c. 1850 U.K)

Rosewood and Mother of Pearl

A mid 19th century rosewood veneered and mother of pearl inlaid ladies jewellery dressing box.

The box also has a pewter line inlay and military plate carrying handles. The interior of the box is fitted out with ten glass jars and bottles nine of which have silver plated lids. The box has a lift out tray that is red leather covered, under the tray is a red leather lined storage area.

Within the tray is a manicure set with mother of pearl handles that is also on a lift out tray. The storage compartment underneath has two ivory backed brushed with the maker's name "Turrill Regent St" printed on the back.

To the inside of the lid there is a red velvet and leather covered panel that falls forward to reveal a red leather lined stationery folder and compartment. To the bottom front of the base is a slim single drawer with a lock and key that is red velvet lined to store jewellery.

The box is in good condition with both locks working, the polish has been sympathetically restored. The manicure set may have had some pieces replaced in the past. (Circa 1850)
