Large Pair of Hand Carved Oak Armchairs (c. 1880 Continental)

Circa 1880, large pair of hand carved oak armchairs, with stylish uprights, carved top rail, upholstered centre splat, carved and open fretwork on the back, and stylised shaped carved arms. The seat is upholstered and has carvings all around, below the seat is a very elaborate carved stretcher which is similar to the top rail. There are stylish bulbous and twisty stretchers, and the front legs are carved, cabriole and finishes in a hoof foot. Generous pairs of chairs, good size and condition.
