Description / Expertise
Georgian Mahogany Bow Fronted Antique Corner Cupboard with Eagle Key Escutcheons.
This wall hanging Georgian bow fronted antique corner cupboard is made from mahogany, dates from around 1800 and has unusual eagle detailing on the key escutcheons. It has a moulded cornice above a deep frieze with boxwood banding and chequered string inlay. The two doors are beautifully figured and have a key with working lock and what appear to be eagle decorative brass key escutcheons. The interior has three bow fronted shelves and two small oak lined drawers. The piece is finished with a mould plinth. It is a rich medium mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
