Georgian Cuban Mahogany Antique Bureau / Writing Desk.
Dating from around 1790 this beautiful Georgian antique bureau / writing desk is made from the finest Cuban mahogany giving it that added depth of quality being such a heavy dense wood. It has a moulded fall front with the interior having a green baize writing insert. Once open a central cupboard door becomes visible along with several small drawers and pigeon holes, blind fretwork carving adds a further interest to the interior. The lower section has four graduating oak lined cock beaded drawers with pierced brass swan neck handles. The antique bureau stands on ogee bracket feet visible from the front while the rear is supported by turned bun feet. It has the original back boards and is a medium mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
