Note: Jeremiah Huggins is listed as a Furniture Broker and Barometer Maker working in Culver Street., Colchester. In the 1851 Census he is listed as being 45 years of age. Wheel Barometers of this dial size are very rarely seen.

An extremely rare rosewood wheel barometer.
The very small 4.5" diameter silvered brass dial calibrated from 28" to 31" with engraved weather indications and engraving to the centre. The barometer reading is indicated by a blued steel hand and can be recorded with a brass set hand controlled with the bone set key below the main dial. The dial enclosed within a glazed convex brass bezel which is fixed from the rear of the case. The removable alcohol thermometer set on a silvered brass scale calibrated from 10º to 120º Fahrenheit. Also with hygrometer below the top pediment and a level to the base of the barometer showing the makers name and place of work. The well figured rosewood veneered case with a swan neck top with ivory paterea and brass finial.
