Antique Colonial Sedan Chair. (c. 1740 to c. 1799 Anglo-Indian)

54.50cm wide   89.00cm high   59.50cm deep (21.46 inches wide  35.04 inches high  23.43 inches deep)

The clue as to the use of this teak chair is its low seat height. Further inspection reveals that it originally had fittings to the sides to take bearing struts. It has good large brass castors and a rush seat. The design is typical of the mid to late 18th century. The joints are pegged and this with one or two other feature suggests it is colonial in origin.
