American Limberjack (c. 1850 United States)

An American limberjack, used by an itinerant street entertainer and made to dance on a board to music. Carved and painted wood with glass eyes, probably from a French doll of the period, in rare and remarkably original condition throughout. A hole runs through the neck from back to front for the supporting stick.
