Description / Expertise

An Important pair of Regency period mahogany Cane Bergere Armchairs after designs by Gillows of Lancaster. The chairs having curved backs with carved scroll ends, above lotus carved arm supports and squab cushion seats, supported on lotus carved turned tapering front legs and well splayed back legs, ending on original brass castors. Three chairs with impressed stamp 'G.K'. THESE RARE CHAIRS BELONGED TO THE AUTHOR AGATHA CHRISTIE AND CAME FROM THE LIBRARY AT GREENWAY HOUSE, HER DEVON COUNTRY RETREAT.
