ROBERT PURTON (worked from 1780) A George III Bread Basket (1787 London)

11.50inch high 10.50inch wide   14.50inch deep (29.21 cm high  26.67 cm wide  36.83 cm deep)

The Bread Basket stands on an oval pierced foot which is decorated with beading and vertical pierced pails. The large oval main body has a beaded rim and is pierced with arched pails, foliate bands and flower heads in ovals. In addition it displays an eclectic mix of bright cut and prick dot designs and a reeded arched handle. Fully marked on the main body and with the sterling mark on the handle. The base finely engraved with a contemporary Crest.
