"Luggage" Desk Piece (c. 1870 England)

7.25inch framed width   2.75inch framed height   3.50inch framed depth (18.41 cm framed width  6.98 cm framed height  8.89 cm framed depth)

A fine quality Victorian desk piece in the form of a leather travelling trunk, the straps with turquoise enamelled buckles. The interior fitted with engraved compartments for ink, stamps and matches together with a fold down socket for a wax taper. English, perhaps by Betjamens, circa 1870.
