This beautiful small antique inlaid mahogany writing desk ca 1900 has a makers/retailers stamp Smee & Cobay, London. The desk has a rectangular moulded top with a black faux leather writing insert. The desk has a mahogany lined drawer above a kneehole with satinwood inlaid corner brackets and is next to two smaller mahogany lined drawers all with brass pull handles. The desk stands on four tapering legs with spade feet and has side stretchers for added stability. All the edges have beautiful satinwood banding with boxwood and ebony string inlay. The piece is of a superb quality, is a rich light/medium mahogany colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
